
For students interested in Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS), the FOSSEE Winter Internship 2024 presents an exciting opportunity to develop their skills while working on worthwhile projects. This remote internship, which will run roughly 1.5 to 2 months from November 8 to December 24, 2024, is being organized by the Ministry of Education’s FOSSEE (Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education)
Qualifications for the Winter Internship at Fossee
Candidates need to fulfill the following prerequisites:
Students in a variety of fields, especially those in computer science, electronics, civil engineering, or similar disciplines.
fundamental knowledge of FLOSS tools.
It is preferred if you have experience with data collection, scientific computing, or programming.
Selection requires the completion of a minimum of one screening task.
Tasks for Screening
Candidates must choose a project and finish at least one screening task in order to apply for the internship. Here are a few of the projects that are available:
Osdag
Laterally supported flexural member design using a Python program (Civil Engineering)
Developing the Osdag Desktop App’s User Interface
Using Conda to package the supplied prism viewer application
Scilab:
In Xcos/Scicos, create a palette and new custom blocks.
eSim:
Electronics Research Migration with eSim
Upgrading eSim (CSE)
eSim’s tool manager (CSE)
Administration of the System:
Zimbra Collaboration Server email management with BASH/Ansible scripts.
How Can I Take Part?
Learn Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) and finish at least one screening task if you want to be considered for this internship. These assignments may entail scientific computing, programming, or gathering community-useful data. They can be completed in a week and are not particularly difficult.
