Who is eligible to apply?
In order to be given consideration for the UNESCO Volunteer Program, candidates must fulfill the following prerequisites:
Have the required proficiency, understanding, abilities, and knowledge
Be at least 20 years old, and ideally no older than 65 (online volunteer assignments do not have an upper age limit).
working familiarity with French or English
Be legally entitled to reside in the country of assignment
A volunteer assignment can last anywhere from two weeks to six months, either full- or part-time. Volunteers are not considered as UNESCO staff members. There is no compensation, financial or otherwise, for volunteer services. Arrangements and costs for travel to a duty station, visas, health insurance coverage, accommodation and living expenses.
How should one apply?
Candidates should complete an application form with their goals, expected outcomes, and a proposal for a contribution.
After reviewing the application(s), supervisors from the Sector/Bureau will determine whether the volunteer’s profile and proposed contribution fit the requirements for a volunteer assignment. They also need to make sure that references are contacted to confirm the volunteer’s eligibility.
Upon conducting interviews and assessing potential candidates, supervisors will make the final selection.
The volunteer’s role and responsibilities will be described in a description created by the supervisor for the volunteer assignment.
